Community Services for Seniors

VillageCare offers older adults a resource to find answers about a wide range of issues impacting their lives, whether they are about government benefits, living well, medical issues and aging, long-term care services or other concerns they may have about themselves or an older family member.
Our staff gives personal attention and provides direct assistance in finding appropriate services available in our community. The center provides a wide range of resources that include a health library.
Free consultations are offered with social workers to provide expertise, advice and referrals to appropriate community services.
VillageCare also offers its Prime time Club with free membership for those 55 and older, entitling them to special benefits that include discounts from community merchants.
The Gatekeeper Program
VillageCare's Gatekeeper program is funded by the New York State Office of Mental Health and is one of three pilot programs statewide. It encompasses the Lower West Village and Chelsea, with the Chinatown Gatekeeper Program taking the east side. Together, the two programs reach out to older adults who show signs of depression, anxiety, confusion or other mental health issue so that these conditions don’t compromise their ability to live independently in the community.
